In my situation, we have a license that was purchased long ago and I need to change the email of this license, the only thing they answered was to contact the person who made the contract. The person who made the contract does not work in the company anymore. They don't answer if they are able to switch the email, they don't answer about what kind of license we have, or any other questions. I am extremely disappointed with the Customer Service.

Tableau Online is our major method of delivering our product to our clients, integrating our data and analytics. For example, we utilize it to assist us in analyzing our quarterly, yearly, and long-term objectives and metrics. Because it doesn't require a team of engineers to construct a custom solution, it's the most important business problem it solves for our company.
  • A wide range of databases may be seamlessly integrated.
  • Regardless of the device you use to access it, the look and feel are first-rate.
  • Displaying complicated data visualizations with a wide range of possibilities for interactivity for the end-user.
  • Only a few features are available for export.
  • License fees and the intricacy of the structure.
  • The processing time required to perform filtering on huge datasets might be prohibitive.
We just need to refresh our data once a day for our unique use case, which allows the complete online system to run on extracts. For us, this is critical because our daylight hours are spent focusing on new updates and implementations rather than worrying about excessive database traffic (which would be required with a direct connection to the online system). The process of importing extracts is straightforward and sturdy enough to handle massive amounts of data.

Tableau [Online] is being used across a big part of our organization, especially on the revenue and marketing side. Tableau has been integrated with our data warehouse as well as a variety of other data sources. It allows us to visualize big and complex datasets in a way that makes the data easy to understand for all users. The power of Tableau is to have dashboards and charts that help users understand the story behind the numbers, even when they are less familiar with the original dataset.
  • Visualize complex information in an easy way
  • Allowing publishers/users to present data amongst multiple different dimensions
  • Having integrations with underlying datasets that allows for scheduled refreshes of the data
  • Reduce barrier of entry for new users i.e. make it more intuitive for new users to join Tableau as a publisher
  • Mobile version is not as easy to navigate at the online/desktop version
  • Ad-hoc reporting
Tableau [Online] is very strong for solid, standardized reporting among a variety of different dimensions. It's easy to understand and navigate for regular users. There is also a wide variety of charts and visualizations to chose from which makes it relatively easy to tell the story beyond the numbers. Tableau [Online] is less suited for ad-hoc reporting.

Tableau [Online] is primarily used to create, publish and share the reports and dashboards across the organization. Tableau Online is used by the different functions in the organization to access the reports relevant to them. Tableau Online helps get rid to excel based dashboards and reports which at times were not portable and also now the reports and dashboards are updated as soon as the new information is available. Also, it is very convenient to manage who can view or edit each workbook which was not possible with excel based reports.
  • Tableau Online is completely cloud based and that's why the reports and dashboards are accessible even on the go. One doesn't always need to access the office laptop to access the reports.
  • The visualizations are interactive and one can quickly change the level at which they want to view the information. For example, one person might be more interested in looking at the country level performances rather than client level. This is intuitive and one doesn't need to create multiple reports for the same.
  • The feature to ask questions in plain vanilla English language is great and helpful. For quick adhoc fact checks one can simply type what they are looking for and the Natural Language Programming algorithms under the hood parse the query, interpret it and then fetch the results accordingly in a visual form.
  • Mobile experience is not at par with the desktop experience. The functionality set is limited and the UX is not that great. So this needs to be improved in leaps and bounds.
  • It's unintuitive to create dashboards for a new user. There is a long learning curve in order to figure out how to get different things done with Tableau. So the learning curve is long as of now.
  • Tableau Online still doesn't get the entire gamut of Tableau Desktop features. With the world moving towards cloud, the entire feature set has to be present in Tableau online as well.
Tableau Online is great boon for the people who keep on travelling and now they don't require to access their laptops in order to access the latest information or reports. Further, with Tableau Online, it's easy to distribute the reports and one can use different cuts within a report as per their requirements.
Also, in organizations where data is sensitive and one department's data should not be accessible to others, Tableau Online works wonders as now the report owner/administrator can manage the access to each individual report or workbooks within a report as well.

Our organization uses Tableau [Online] to effectively share data across many different business units. We have so many different data points and were previously using excel and other tools to share it with less than stellar results. We find that using Tableau [Online] makes reporting cleaner and easier to understand. We also built an integration with our software so that our customers can use our API to pull data from our tools to build their own reports in Tableau.
  • Dashboards
  • Compiling data and making a variety visual charts
  • Connects easily to most databases
  • Can easily blend data
  • Usable on many different device types
  • Their paid version can be pricier than some competitors
  • Report distribution can a challenge
  • You need technical resources to get things up and running
[Tableau Online] is a very robust tool and allows you to create reports for all different levels of your organization. And with it's ability to extract data from so many different tools, you can easily pull in data from many different systems to give you a single report. You can also easily filter dashboards to show different levels versus having to edit. Once up and running, it is really pretty easy to generate dashboards.

We use Tableau for both internal company-proprietary and external customer-related visualization and interactive exploration of our key business metrics. Tableau helps us find the needles in the haystacks that we didn't even know we were looking for. Fantastic integrations with all of our 3rd party tooling, and seamless data ingestion means that no matter where the data originates, we can count on being able derive business intelligence from it quickly and easily.
  • Fine-grained permissions and user access tokens allow sensitive data to stay in the right place.
  • Scheduled reports save time by delivering data when we need it.
  • Online search makes it easy to find what you're looking for.
  • Mobile integration is not quite up-to-par with desktop in terms of performance.
  • Data filters can be clunky to use.
  • Sorting can be quirky when dealing with multiple character encodings.
Pretty much the best option for performing data visualization on large data warehouses and data lakes. Infinitely scalable and integrations with many 3rd party tools. Creates visualizations that both technical and non-technical stakeholders can rally around. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to improve their business intelligence.

We majorly use Tableau Online to share live interactive dashboards with our clients containing insights of our SaaS service usage that they have signed up for. Using Tableau Desktop first, data is imported from our SaaS platform and dashboards are created according to what the client wants to be updated on in real-time without constantly nagging us to create manual data and share with them. Instead of creating our own analytics platform from the ground up, we leverage Tableau Online to share custom analytics dashboard with our clients.
  • Features like Workbook-specific permissions help us control who in our client's team can do what with the Tableau Online resources that we share with them. We mostly assign to them the user role of a viewer or interactor based on the scenario.
  • The Ask Data function really comes in handy as instead of wasting time using multiple filters, one can just write their query in simple English and get the results. Of course, it won't fulfill your every request, but it works ninety percent of the time.
  • Overall, Tableau Online provides many robust account-based administrative functions. One of them is the ability to check each user's history and activity to prevent or diagnose data leaks.
  • I feel that the interface is not as beautiful as other BI vendors out there. When one clicks on an interactive area to view the underlying data, the resultant data tables look very archaic and unappealing. Even the resultant dashboards are very uninspiring and lackluster in terms of aesthetic beauty. Like every other product and website nowadays, I think Tableau should adopt the philosophy of material design with bold colors.
  • The interface can sometimes feel clunky and not the most responsive. Pop-ups or underlying data take time to display. Loading times can be improved a little as data and sources get more complicated.
  • I understand that Tableau Desktop is the central hub to create reports and dashboards, and the online variant predominantly to share them with others. Still, some last-minute editing capabilities should be provided to Tableau Online.
I think the whole service is suitable for people who don't have the time or resources to build a real-time analytics engine and integrate it with their product or service. You get a ready-made platform where you can instantly create insightful reports of your client's usage of your service and share them with multiple stakeholders.

It's being used across a department mostly as a way to produce dashboards and weekly and monthly reports from our reagent data both internally and for some of our customers. It provides a clean way to both visualize data and key metrics from our data sources so that they can be accessed by any key stakeholders on the project. Data integration was also fairly straightforward which was also a plus for our department.
  • Data integration and importing is well supported
  • Great data visualization and dashboarding capabilities
  • Enterprise level security and can easily restrict/grant access across users and user groups
  • Takes time to train new associates and for new associates to become proficient using Tableau
  • UI can sometimes feel a little bit overcomplicated (e.g. editing dashboards)
  • Tableau Online can be slow/experience data refresh lags
Overall I think Tableau Online does a good job for data visualization and dashboard creation for both internal and external use. We haven't had issues connecting to our data sources so this seems to be a good option if weekly/monthly reports or dashboards need to be made available to multiple stakeholders across departments. Probably better for cases where you already have infrastructural or organizational support for Tableau since ramping up might be time-consuming if the team is new to Tableau. Also probably only necessary if visualizations need to be shared across organizations or departments since for small teams, the desktop version would suffice especially at the beginning.

My organization uses Tableau Online to track employee performance statistics, trends, competitions, etc. It is used across the whole organization. It addresses the problem of having accurate data to coach our employees. We use this platform on a daily basis. It is a necessary part of being a manager with our company, but we have also given access to our field employees as well. This way they can track their own performance daily.
  • Tableau Online has a really good search system to help users find data.
  • Tableau Online has a system to send regular reports of workbooks that users choose to subscribe to.
  • Tableau Online has a very user friendly app that can be used by anyone with no formal training.
  • Tableau Online refreshes on an hourly and daily basis to make sure its users always has up to date data.
  • Tableau Online could be better when pulling up data on a phone. Some data is cut off and is not able to be expanded for mobile viewing.
  • Tableau Online mobile requires a manual refresh each time you log on. It does not default to the latest data.
  • Sometimes I am not allowed to log on unless I clear the cache or cookies. I rarely have this issue with any other sites.
I would definitely recommend Tableau Online if asked by a colleague. It has so many great features. Of course it is not a perfect system, but no system is perfect, right? But if you need a database to house your data, this is one of, if not the best, I have ever used. The mobile version is great when using a larger mobile device, but it is not as convenient when on a smaller device like an iPhone.

The analytics department in my company uses Tableau for its daily/monthly/Annual reports. It is a terrific data visualization tool that helps our users visualize data as and when required, without many complications. Trend analysis and forecasting is a key to using this software, and this is where it comes in very handy. All the data metrics are accurately tracked. It provides powerful data insights. All the heads of different teams use Tableau daily. It is particularly useful when there is data integration with other software required. It also offers a layer of visualization that is superior to traditional Microsoft products.
  • Tableau offers a layer of visualization that is superior to traditional Microsoft products.
  • It provides out of the box data visualization tools, and the opportunity to customize these views for business use.
  • Extensive data source support/seamless data import.
  • Easy implementation of enterprise-level security and access with integration with AD Groups.
  • Tableau Online could improve its mobile interface, which requires training, and lags when trying to import large files.
  • Tableau could have a feature such that workbooks that are connected to live data sources could refresh automatically instead of having to publish from the desktop every time you want updated figures.
  • Limitations can be frustrating if you are used to using the Desktop version.
In mostly onshore/offshore scenarios, it is more useful. If developers developed some graphs and management wanted to showcase it in front of a business, they can get access to Tableau Online and present it.
Tableau Online is well suited for sharing reporting and/or analytics across different departments. As an organization that has a number of employees who work remotely, this software allows for constant collaboration, regardless of location.
In cases of a complex dashboard, filtering can take a while, and refreshing of data is quite slow.
Editing the dashboards is quite complex; we have a dedicated team that needs to manage these, as most users are unable to do so. It's not easy to filter data.

Best suited for creating very customized visualizations.
Less suited for creating general dashboards fast and easy.

We had a use case where we developed some visualization and onshore management wanted to see it. We were having Tableau Desktop licensed till that time and we were of the impression that Online is free or we will get a couple of licenses if we want. But Tableau Online has bundled licensed in order to get view from anywhere.

Management has decided to invest into it and now we are using Tableau Online situation in order to see and share reports online which will be definitely beneficial for a organization to take important decisions.

Tableau is the one of the best solution in industry now. We are fully utilizing its capabilities.
  • Can be accessed from anywhere with same set of reports shared between licensed users.
  • It's very useful when presenting something and wanted to share. As a developer perspective we can work and visualize things accordingly.
  • Without this online solution Tableau is nothing and hence they are charging more for online solution than desktop versions.
  • Licensing cost is the major concern and you have to take 100 at a time though you need 2 or 3 only.
In mostly onshore/offshore scenarios it is more useful. If developers developed some graph and management wanted to showcase it in front of a business they can get just access of Tableau Online and present it.

Originally, my company purchased Tableau Desktop which I believe became Tableau Creator or something similar. This new version included Online as well as the old Desktop features. Our intention was to use Online to display non-sensitive dashboards with the clients. We moved away from Online to Datorama for easier sharing with the client.
  • Work distribution.
  • Browser editing capabilities.
  • Collaboration.
  • It can be slow.
  • Not ideal for sensitive data.
  • Initial set-up with Desktop not super intuitive.
It's nearly as good as Desktop but really shines with its in-browser editing. The only downside is that there can be a noticeable slowdown within the browser depending on the task.

Tableau dashboards are built by the Analytics department and used by the entire company and clients for data visualization.
  • Visualizes data for standardized dashboards.
  • An aesthetically pleasing way to aggregate multiple data sources in one place.
  • Great for data storytelling.
  • It can be laggy compared to Desktop version.
  • Limitations can be frustrating if you are used to using the Desktop version.

Tableau Online is used in my small startup company to consult clients on Tableau's use case. The power of hosting it on the cloud and the security and control it provides is at an enterprise level. As for my business need, I looked to roll up KPIs across various departments across our cybersecurity functions.
  • Quick startup and configuration. Get it, set it, GO! Configuration is easy and done in a matter of a few clicks
  • Easy implementation of enterprise-level security and access with integration with AD Groups.
  • Maintenance and housekeeping of the server instance is easy and can come with support.
  • Tableau Online could improve its mobile interface
Tableau Online is best suited for a start-up or a small organization who would like to share work within and outside the team over a secured network.

It started as a tool for Finance and Accounting to use to build and publish reports and dashboards to help track our budget. Now that we are up and running, we have been pushing out the use of it to other departments, encouraging users to be more proactive in monitoring their financials.
  • Great resource for consolidating and organizing reports across the organization.
  • Can be accessed without having knowledge about how to use Tableau Desktop.
  • Great complement to Desktop to allow for visuals to be accessed anywhere, anytime.
  • Could have a feature that workbooks that are connected to live data sources could refresh automatically instead of having to publish from desktop everytime you want updated figures.
Well suited for projects within an organization where there is a lot of cross-collaboration (like a budget process, for example, where the whole organization is involved and needs eyes on the same resources).

It would be less appropriate in situations where only individual departments are using Tableau, since Desktop alone is sufficient.

Tableau Online is being used as a data tool in our organization. It is used by sales, operations, and marketing. It provides great insights into where we can improve business opportunities. It also integrates well with Salesforce to easily report out across objects in Salesforce. Overall it is a great tool we use to get data insights.

Tableau Online is well suited for teams that are working with large datasets across many different tables. It is best for teams that want to visualize the data and need multiple users to access it. Tableau Online is used across our whole business. It has become our one source of the truth and always tells a consistent, near-live story of exactly how our business is behaving.
  • Gives a consistent, single version of truth across the company.
  • Is managed to give the picture as-of midnight each day.
  • Is intuitive and dynamic, relieving the pressure on the BI team (me!)
  • Occasionally there are in-depth analytical problems that it can't stretch to.
  • Graph types are limited to be correct, but occasionally you'll want to hack them or make them more involved, which is limited.
Intuitive, and useful for the whole business. If there's any in-depth analytics to be done, it can still be used to aggregate and source data but may need to be extracted for further analysis.

Tableau Online is used to share and collaborate on workbooks created or generated by Tableau Desktop. In Tableau Online, you do not have to worry about hardware specifications, you simply buy the license and use it in a browser. All of the background hardware is maintained by Tableau. It is completely adapted to our organization. We have 3 sites in Tableau online for each department so that our data is not shared between the departments.
  • Scalability- If you want to increase the number of users, it can be done without any hardware replacement or update.
  • Flexibility- Since is maintained by Tableau, it can be adapted to any environment.
  • In Tableau Online, the risk is less compared to Tableau Server.
  • Data source: It doesn't support many databases to run a direct query in it.
  • Downtime will be very frequent [twice or three times per month] based on the region you deploy.
  • Some of the configurations cannot be done as per your choice.
Tableau Online is used in an environment where Tableau Desktop creates dashboards and you want to share them and collaborate. It is best suited in a place where hardware infrastructure cannot be adopted. It is not well suited in an environment where you use certain data sources because Tableau Online only supports specific data sources.

Tableau Online is being used by the organization to have a better grasp of our customers' interests, behaviors, spending trends and reading consumption habits. This addresses multiple business needs, across several business lines, to understand how customers interact with our information and content, especially defining the specific distribution channels and outlets that are most used, as well as the cross-collaboration between print, digital, events, GIS and research.
  • Tableau Online makes it easy to visualize raw data into easy-to-understand charts and graphs.
  • Tableau Online allows me to connect to and access our data from anywhere, not having to rely on the application only running on a local machine.
  • Tableau Online allows us to provide meaningful material, regarding data, internally and externally, where necessary, at a moment's notice.
  • One downside of being online is that you're required to be connected to update data. This connectivity isn't always applicable - airplanes, subway, etc.
  • An automatic connection between Tableau Online and Tableau Desktop, with bi-directional sync, would be a great addition to the platform.
  • Having training material, that's more aligned with our business goals, would be ideal.
Tableau allows a user to quickly get necessary and simplified details from complex data sources. It's well suited for new users to get up-to-speed, quickly, on smaller data sets, and allows for more complex data analysis to be done by data analysts and scientists. This provides a powerful business application to move our data practices forward.

Tableau is being used by our organization in various departments. The main use of Tableau is to demonstrate Dashboards from different areas of the company to understand trends. The dashboards are used for GAP analysis and forecasting. Information is viewed very easily and gives a holistic view of the situation/historical data. Tableau plays a very important role in management meetings and conference meetings. Data is integrated from various data sources to create meaningful reports.
  • Very nice dashboards that have a great visual design.
  • Great integration capabilities with other programs and languages.
  • Helps perform GAP analysis for management meetings and a single page snapshot to give meaning to data.
  • Tableau is very expensive and the pricing is inflexible. It is catered more towards large organizations and cannot be flexibly used by mid-size firms.
  • After sales support is not up to the mark.
  • Versioning is not great when you upgrade the software. This is a very simple possible improvement. IT security is not up to the mark when we ran results by attacking the software. Sometimes IT support is required when you upgrade.
Tableau is very well suited for large organizations because of its cost. It has a great visual design. It is particularly useful when there is data integration with other software required. Dashboards come out very well in such cases and help make sense out of data. These dashboards are used on a frequent basis once a baseline or a parameter is defined. Trend analysis and forecasting are a key to using this software and this is where it comes in very handy.

Tableau Online is being leveraged by about 30% of the organizations across the company. It's primarily used today as a scalable and dynamic data visualization tool for complex data sets. By leveraging this software business analysts spend less time preparing graphs and charts and more time on thoughtful and impactful analysis. This can lead to better and more informed decision making across your company!
  • Software is compatible with numerous interfaces, making it quite scalable.
  • Robust visualization feature set -- perhaps even industry leading.
  • Graphs are dynamic and intuitive to use which helps organizations focus on what really matters -- making the right decision at the right time.
  • Intuitive user interface helps analysts quickly setup scalable reports.
  • More robust feature set -- its primarily a data visualization tool...hence you need other software to populate it.
  • More competitive pricing model -- the desktop / creator license can get expense fast so you need to be cautious of who has this user type.
  • Further ability to customize the application to fit your companies branding.
Tableau Online is appropriate for companies that want a scaleable and user friendly data visualization software and are willing to invest in this area given the price of the solution. It's not appropriate for scrappy companies who are looking to trim costs.

We use Tableau for reporting primarily to Execs for projects and financials. It's also used by our Product department for analyzing product changes, and to track how people are using our system. It's primarily used by the product department and IT, but is starting to make its way into other departments as we expand it.
  • Easy to understand dashboards, really good for managers and execs
  • Easy to create dashboards once you have the right data
  • UI layout for creating new dashboard is good
  • Formatting dashboards is a little technical, a more user friendly version would be nice
  • Ability to export reports out to other formats
  • More color and options would be good
Tableau has taken over as our default reporting tool for managers and execs. We also use it for reporting our financials to the CFO. The CFO then uses it to report to the board and rest of the company. The product department can easily create reports to show trends and how our system is being used; this helps guide future product changes.

Tableau Online is used by various departments in our company as interactive reports and dashboards which help the company make data-driven decisions as well as anomaly detection for our Dev Ops.
  • No local maintenance. This is in comparison to Tableau Server which requires local installation and maintenance. Getting upgraded to the new version of Tableau Online is automatic.
  • Most comprehensive data visualization software I've used.
  • Tableau has never been good at creating tabular workbooks like spreadsheets. This is not its selling point, but there's still a lot of people who are used to and expect this format.
  • Being able to send a non-interactive copy of a workbook to a large group of recipients (possibly people who don't have licenses) in Tableau has always required workarounds using the tableau command line tool. Hope there's a more straight-forward way of doing this.
Tableau Online is well suited for people who would rather not maintain their servers locally. Tableau, in general, is well suited for people who need graphical visualizations of their data and not just spreadsheets-like tabular reports.

My organization is a partner of Tableau Software. We advise our customers how to use Tableau and why it is a good solution for them. We also help them to implement Tableau within their organization and give support after implementation. Finally, we help our customers to prepare their first dashboards and reports.
  • Easy editing through a web browser.
  • Flexible role management.
  • Speed.
  • Payment for a licence for every user, even someone who just wants to view reports without editing.
  • Lack of a simpler version for a business user with fewer features.
Tableau Online is very useful for a scattered organization with users spread in many different destinations. Tableau Online enables data analyst to share their job with business users immediately, wherever they are. These users have an opportunity to introduce their comments online and all of this speeds up the circulation of information. On the other hand it is rather useless if all users are in one office.
